Armenia holds a special place in my heart as the first country I traveled from the UAE. From experiencing my inaugural snowfall to indulging in the rich flavors of Armenian cuisine, every moment was etched into my memory. Join me as I recount my unforgettable 5-day journey through this enchanting land.
Arrival and Weather: My journey began with an early flight from Abu Dhabi to Armenia via Wizz Air. Touching down at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan, I was greeted by cold weather, typical for March. Despite the chill, the allure of snowy landscapes beckoned, making it an ideal time to explore.
Booking and Visa Process: Opting for convenience, I booked my entire stay through Pinas Tourism, a decision that proved cost-effective and hassle-free. For fellow Philippine passport holders, securing an e-visa or Visa On Arrival (VOA) with UAE residency is straightforward, with applications available upon arrival. With Emirates ID and passport in hand, I was ready to embark on my adventure.
Accommodation and Hospitality: Arriving at the airport, I was warmly welcomed by my driver, alongside other Filipino guests. My accommodation, the Classy and Cozy Hotel, offered a cozy retreat just minutes away from Republic Square. Owned by Filipinos and catering to expats exiting the UAE, the hostel provided a comfortable stay, complete with all-female shared rooms and optional joiner tour packages.
Exploration and Culinary Delights: Setting out to explore, I began my day with a stroll through Republic Square, followed by a delightful meal at The Tavern, renowned for its delectable Armenian cuisine. Each dish tantalized my taste buds, satisfying my cravings with it's savory and meaty flavors.
Sightseeing Highlights: Armenia's architecture lent a charming European ambiance to its historic landmarks. From the grandeur of Republic Square to the cultural treasures of Matenadaran and the vibrant marketplace of Vernissage, each site offered a glimpse into Armenia's rich heritage. Notable visits to the ancient Temple of Garni, the awe-inspiring Geghard Monastery, and the exhilarating Tsaghkadzor ski resort added depth to my exploration, leaving me in awe of Armenia's natural and cultural wonders.
My journey from the UAE to Armenia was a dream come true, filled with unforgettable moments and cherished memories. From the thrill of witnessing my first snowfall to the warmth of Armenian hospitality, every experience left an indelible mark on my soul. As I bid farewell to this enchanting land, I carry with me the spirit of adventure and gratitude for the treasures discovered along the way. Armenia, with its beauty and charm, will forever hold a place in my heart.
